Straight from the Cow

Nick is drinking straight from the cow. The Braum's cow anyway. It amazes me just how many milestones a baby goes through in that first year and how many of the big ones seem to come right at the end. Nick is now cruising through the world facing forwards. Franklin turned his car seat around the other day. He loves it. He can see and talk to his favorite person, the great and mighty Da (seriously, just ask the boy). He sits right behind me on the passenger side, so unless I'm driving, he still really can't see me unless I peek around the seat.

He still only has the two lower front teeth. He keeps making motions like he's teething and frequently has days where he'll soak three or more bibs, but we've yet to see anything come of it. He's being stubborn about it, I think.

Nick travels like a champ. He's very mellow with a "sleep now" button on his fanny that appears to be activated by the car seat. If we're in the car more than 15 minutes, he's out. We took him and his sister off to Silver Dollar City on Saturday. We'd have made reasonable time if we hadn't had to make 4 pit stops along the way out. He may travel like a champ, but there are days when I really wish we hadn't potty trained her. It usually passes though, particularly when we're buying diapers. We made it home on just 2 stops and a bit of threatening. It's one of the bonuses you get as a parent.

The bottles went bye-bye on Monday. It's been a bit of an adventure. Unlike his sister, Nick is a very leisurely eater. He can make a bottle last forever if we let him pause and play with it. In a just a few days, he gets cake. Surely that's enough milestones for one boy in a single month?

We won't tell him about the 1 year shots for now. :)

Has it really been that long?

It amazes me that it's been very nearly a year since our little family went from 3 to 4. Unlike the first year with Linsey, where I was dedicated and sent out an email update once a week plus photos, I've pretty much fallen off the radar. Linsey's blog is now 2 years out of date and with Nick, it just didn't make sense to start updating it now. So here we are, much, much later, considerably tireder (is that even a word?) and hopefully at least a bit wiser.

A general update to bring everyone up to speed.

Linsey is 3.

Linsey loves...
- Soccer (yeah, we're not sure where she gets it either)
- Jumping
- Tickles. Lots and lots of tickles
- Macaroni & Cheese
- Mimenems (M&Ms)
- Sticker Bars (Snicker Bars)
- Her Brother
- Backyardigans
- Tinkerbell
- Gravy
- Shoes

Linsey can...
- Feed herself
- Use the potty (completely trained!)
- Dress herself and get it mostly right without help
- Drain a sippy cup in less than 5 minutes
- count to 10 (including 5!)
- Say her full name and address
- sing Itsy Bitsy Spider

Linsey says...
- When I get big, I will...(fill in appropriate activity)
- It's Telicious!
- I love it!
- It's Beautiful!

Nicholas is 1.

Nick can...
- Walk!
- Clap
- Smooch
- Hug
- Growl

- Feed himself finger foods
- Put anything he finds in his mouth and have it half chewed before we can get across the room.
- Shake is head "no, no, no" on his sister's command while giggling

and on very rare occasions -

It's all uphill from here.
